Marlon Shackelford is currently a National Rites of Passage facilitator for Omega’s Rites of Passage Program in Dayton, Ohio where he resides. He currently is a member of the National Exhoodus Council (NEC), a collaborative that advises President Obama on grassroots initiatives designed for ex-felons. The NEC is a coalition of formerly-incarcerated professionals who manage community-based organizations in 50 cities. He also serves as the Program Coordinator of CIRGV (Community Initiative 2 Reduce Gun Violence), a violence prevention initiative designed to reduce the number of senseless homicides via street-level intervention. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the City of Dayton Police and Montgomery County Sheriffs Department. He has successfully planned and implemented a Five Step Truancy Abatement Program. As a result of the program’s success, he’s been awarded the Nahro Merit Award. Mr. Shackelford has also been responsible for seven youth appearing on Showtime at the Apollo’s Kids Night.
